A New Kind of Therapy Begins with Preparation
Before your first ketamine-assisted session, you’ll meet with a trained clinician to explore your history, intentions, and emotional readiness. This is a time to build trust, ask questions, and set goals. We’ll help you prepare mentally, emotionally, and physically, so the medicine session feels supportive, not surprising. After this clinical intake, you’ll complete a comprehensive medical evaluation with our in-house MD, who is specially trained in psychedelic-assisted care. During this evaluation, your medical history will be reviewed, and dosing recommendations and the appropriate route of delivery for ketamine will be discussed.
Setting the Scene: A Safe and Intentional Environment
At AK Psychology Group, we create a space designed for healing, quiet, private, and deeply attuned. You’ll be in a reclined position, often with eye shades and music selected to support your journey. A licensed therapist will remain present throughout to offer grounding, safety, and emotional support as needed.
What You May Experience During the Session
Ketamine often induces a non-ordinary state of consciousness. Clients may feel expanded, detached from ego, or experience vivid imagery and emotion. Others describe a peaceful stillness or temporary distance from longstanding pain. Each journey is different, and there’s no “right” way to experience it.
After the Medicine: Integration Matters
Following the session, we’ll invite you to process what surfaced, emotionally, cognitively, and somatically. Integration may involve talking, journaling, movement, or silence. We encourage follow-up therapy sessions during the days and weeks that follow, when your brain is still in a neuroplastic, open state.
Your Safety Is Our Priority
Our clinicians are MAPS, Fluence, and ketamine-trained. We follow best practices in screening, monitoring, and trauma-informed care. Ketamine-assisted therapy isn’t for everyone and we’re committed to helping you decide if it’s right for your needs, goals, and therapeutic readiness.
